Yesterday’s Prayer Party to launch Anjuli & Ben into their different new adventures with God went really well with amazing food as usual, several visitors, and even though we’re going to miss them a deep sense of the ‘rightness’ of the paths that they’re both pursuing. Also, it was especially lovely to have Anna & T with us visiting from their home in Mumbai… If you weren’t able to be there but have any Scriptures, words, or pictures for either Ben or Anj please do share them direct with them or send them to me to pass on.

This week its Last Weds so we’re meeting @ No 43 at 7.15pm (25th Aug) for a meal followed by a prayer walk around the area as part of preparing the ground for various things we’ll be doing together as a church in the autumn. These include Adam Webster & Claire Matheson joining us in Sept as our Mission Year team involved in establishing a small community house (we’ll be working closely with Rye Lane Baptist Church on this), our Community Barbecue (Sat 25th Sept) followed by a visitor friendly First Sunday @ St John’s (3rd Oct). We’re also hoping to launch a small Asylum Seeker project in Sept and a new kids/youth club at half-term. There will be updates and opportunity to discuss these and other things at September’s Stakeholder lunch (19th)…

This coming Sunday (29th Aug) being the last Sunday of the month we won’t be meeting as a church but there will be a prayer time for Jay @ No 43 at 4.00pm.

Hi all

Thirteen of us had a great time in Whitstable yesterday – a day of sitting & walking by the sea, playing Frisbee, and enjoying catching up with each other; Trevor, Alison, and Sarah swimming and others getting very wet without intending to; Helen eating an extremely garlicky large pot of mussels; others eating oysters, fish & chips, lobster, and home made cakes; Ben wearing some fetching female clothing; Sally gasping for a cup of tea & Andy delighted to find locally brewed beers to take home; Charlie snapping photos; Mawusi walking in interesting ways as she tried to dry her skirt by getting the most wind to it; George, and much more... We missed those of you who weren’t there.

The two Journey Groups meet this week and then we’re together for lunch on Sunday 22nd @ No 43 at 1.30pm. It’s Anjuli’s & Ben’s Prayer Party so please do try and come...

Food offers please asap including:

  • Main courses for 8 (x3)
  • Potatoes or rice for 8 (x3)
  • Vegetables or salad for 8 (x3)
  • French bread & butter
  • Deserts for 8 (x3)
  • Drinks

Also, I’d encourage you to be asking God for what he wants to say to Anj & Ben as they embark on their new adventures (Scriptures, pictures, words, etc) and come ready to share them at the Prayer Party…

Some still have holidays to come this month: Helen is off to Croatia for a week on Sat and Pete & Becca travel out to India then too. Any others..?

Love, Fran

Hi all

I’m away now until Weds 14th July so do make a note of the Restore happenings below & on the attached document as you will be spared the usual flow of emails while I’m away!!

SUN 4th July: CANCELLED St John’s has just told us that we can’t have the hall because they need it for interviewing potential new vicars (please do pray for them in this important decision) and the majority of the church also seems to be away or working next w/e so we’ve reluctantly decided to cancel. If you are going to be here and know of others who are too why not invite them around or arrange to meet up in the park…

SUN 11th July: 4.30pm Remember that Jesus Way Sunday this month is @ Andy & Jenny’s and make sure you remind others if you’re in contact with them

See the attached for details of Restore happenings from now through until the end of August…

Fran

Hi lovely people

First of all, a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped out at the Brimmington Festival on Saturday. Our stall went very well with lots of good chats with people, and engaging with other stall holders and local groups. A brilliant sense of very local celebration with a strong multi-cultural feel…

Tomorrow night, Tues 15th June, the Peckham & Nunhead Amnesty Group will be meeting at the Nun’s Head just off Nunhead Lane at 8.00pm.

As next Sun 20th June is the third Sunday it’s our Restore Community meal & communion/prayer at 1.30pm @ No 43, and if the sun is shining we’ll have lunch in the garden. We already have some offers of food & drink so just need please

  • Main courses for 8 people (x2)
  • Rice/potatoes for 8 (x3)
  • Salad for 8 (x2)
  • Deserts for 8 people (x3)
  • Juice drinks

Many thanks
Love, Fran

Welcome Building Community Journeying Together Getting Stuck In

Welcome to our small space in the big world wide web!

We’re a bunch of ordinary people from Peckham and the nearby areas learning to follow Jesus. The main thing we're doing is figuring out how to love God and our neighbours and what that means to us in the stuff of everyday life.

Upcoming events:

Sun Sep 12 @16:30 - 06:30PM 2nd Sunday: Prayer and discussion
Sun Sep 19 @13:30 - 04:30PM 3rd Sunday: Meal, communion and prayer
Sun Sep 26 @08:00 - 05:00PM No Church
Sun Oct 03 @16:30 - 07:00PM 1st Sunday at St John's

We're about building communities, wherever we live and work.

We want to be a church that not only shares the good news about Jesus but is good news for all those who come into contact with us! We find parties and involvement in community festivals are a good way to do this, creating spaces for celebration that break down the barriers between people.  Eating together tends to happen a lot too.

We want to walk with people through all that life has for them, both good and bad.

Crucially for us its also about getting alongside those who are marginalised or just struggling to get by in life; trying to do something about injustice wherever it appears; being a community that engages in other people's worlds rather than expecting them to come to us; and when they do trying to make sure all can find a place of belonging and are helped in their journey with God.

We're about asking difficult questions but still getting stuck in.

Basically, we want to be the kind of people who ask questions about life even when it's difficult, but confident that as we do, Jesus is right there in the middle of it all. We're learning that when you do this as a community it becomes something quite extra-ordinary and can make a real difference. That's why we're passionate about constantly exploring, questioning, and wrestling with new and creative ways to live out the life of Jesus 24-7.

Have a look around, we would love you to journey with us.
