Restore Volunteer Programme

More than anything we want to see people develop and draw nearer to God. As part of that we have and ongoing volunteer programme where we commit to support individuals on a year out. Individuals are welcome from anywhere who commit to joining us.

The Restore Volunteer Programme is usually for people their 20's (although all ages are welcome), who work part-time in the community taking the approach of being with local people in their situation ('incarnational mission' is the term many use to describe this). We occasionally employ people but this is usually also done on a part-time basis as we want to ensure that we continue to 'own' together what RESTORE does by all being in some way actively involved rather than just paying people to do it for us...

Here is a bit about what the year means, if you are interested then contact us:

Have a passion to see God change individual lives and transform one of Britain’s poorest communities.

Be willing to live in Peckham, SE London for as long as God wants.

Spend approximately two days a week building relationships with local young people and families; running kids clubs, arts workshops and sports initiatives; volunteering in local projects; and much more.

Work part-time to support themselves for everyday living .

Be actively involved in and supported by Restore.

Visit India to work with and learn from Restore’s friends, the Asha Project, based in the New Delhi slums.

Receive training and mentoring in urban social action, community development and outreach, and youth work including attending the three term Urban Toolkit training course and other training opportunities that arise.

Have lots of fun, be stretched spiritually and practically, learn heaps, grow in relationship with Jesus lots, and have the satisfaction of making a real difference in other’s lives.

Welcome Building Community Journeying Together Getting Stuck In

Welcome to our small space in the big world wide web!

We’re a bunch of ordinary people from Peckham and the nearby areas learning to follow Jesus. The main thing we're doing is figuring out how to love God and our neighbours and what that means to us in the stuff of everyday life.

Upcoming events:

Sun Sep 05 @16:30 - 07:00PM 1st Sunday at St John's
Sun Sep 12 @16:30 - 06:30PM 2nd Sunday: Prayer and discussion
Sun Sep 19 @13:30 - 04:30PM 3rd Sunday: Meal, communion and prayer
Sun Sep 26 @08:00 - 05:00PM No Church
Sun Oct 03 @16:30 - 07:00PM 1st Sunday at St John's

We're about building communities, wherever we live and work.

We want to be a church that not only shares the good news about Jesus but is good news for all those who come into contact with us! We find parties and involvement in community festivals are a good way to do this, creating spaces for celebration that break down the barriers between people.  Eating together tends to happen a lot too.

We want to walk with people through all that life has for them, both good and bad.

Crucially for us its also about getting alongside those who are marginalised or just struggling to get by in life; trying to do something about injustice wherever it appears; being a community that engages in other people's worlds rather than expecting them to come to us; and when they do trying to make sure all can find a place of belonging and are helped in their journey with God.

We're about asking difficult questions but still getting stuck in.

Basically, we want to be the kind of people who ask questions about life even when it's difficult, but confident that as we do, Jesus is right there in the middle of it all. We're learning that when you do this as a community it becomes something quite extra-ordinary and can make a real difference. That's why we're passionate about constantly exploring, questioning, and wrestling with new and creative ways to live out the life of Jesus 24-7.

Have a look around, we would love you to journey with us.
